RUS104 Academic trip to Langkawi

 23/11/2013 - 25/11/2013

It was an academic trip to Langkawi for students in RUS104 studio year 2013.
It wasn't my first time to have academic trip to somewhere else in my life but it was definitely my first time visiting to Langkawi with my university friends.
We proceeded to Langkawi early in the morning at 8am 23/11/2013 under the lead of few lecturers.

We had a lot of activities when we were in Langkawi.
Before we arrived in Chenang Beach, we stopped by Dataran Lang, where the iconic huge eagle statue located. We were required to do 'live sketching' for a man-made structure at the place.
In my memory I remembered that Dataran Lang was only an eagle statue spreading it's wings, after I went there again after 10 years, it totally recalls back all my memories, it was a huge compound where there wasn't only eagle statue but there were other buildings and it is just only located next to the jetty.

The picture above was my man-made structure sketch. I chose this building because I personally loves it's structure and shape and there was a shade there so that I can sit down and draw and not soaking myself under the hot sun in noon. haha

They are my friends Ching Peixiu from interior design and Angeline lee may ching from Quantity survey.
We had a lot of fun at Chenang beach before our bbq dinner.

Honestly, 5 person who did the bbq and serving the food for 200+ of us was quite a tough job. I was able to get a little of food. So after our light dinner and sharing session with lecturers, we got our permission from the lecturer to get some supper before we get back to our room since they set a rule that we should be in our room before 12am.
Anyway, these pizza were tasty and i got to know that it was quite a famous pizza stall in Langkawi.

DAY 2, ISLAND HOPPING.
I get used to ocean, beach, sand and sea breeze because my family is 'island people'. No, actually my family used to spend our holidays in islands. So sea water is familiar to me. In my own thought, I thought that island hoping was like snorkeling and activities at the beach but it ended up just only 'hopping', like really get in to the island and get out without getting wet. It make sense though since there were 200 of us, it is impossible for 200 people to soak in the sea and have snorkeling together at the same time, and yet, we still have to consider the problem of safety and all.

Eventually, it was fun though, I had never been to any island in Langkawi. It was my first time to step foot in Dayang Bunting Marble Geoforest Park. The place was peaceful, surrounded by woods. we walked into the forest and passed through all the woods and we saw this ... (picture below)

There was a huge floating board (not sure what it is) where we can stand up there and look down into the water, there were a lot of fish ! and of course, there were a lot of monkeys who loves to snatch people's bag or food (guess they were hungry)
Dayang Bunting was one of my favourite place during the academic trip.

Besides Dayang Bunting, we went to another 2 islands by riding speedboat.
Then, we were there in an eagle island. There were a lots of eagle flying above the sky.
The scenery itself was an unextraordinary. It was so breathtaking to see so many eagles flapping their wings and flying up and down above us.

After the island hopping, we went for a walk back in Chenang Beach and took some photos of those little creatures.

The picture above shows an alive jellyfish. It was bigger than my palm ! I think it has 2 of my palm size.
